Alyssa Stephens
I am currently an Academic Advisor at the University of Alabama. The support from the Sparky Truax Scholarship allowed me to successfully complete two Bachelor's degrees at the University of Colorado Boulder- a B.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies. In my current role I advise students through their own college process including major selection, course planning, involvement, and academic success. In August 2022, I will earn my M.A. in Higher Education Administration and hope to continue working with college students in academic affairs.

Aimee Swindall
Declared degree: Bachelor of Arts
Major: psychology
Specialization: Biblical Studies counseling
As a psychology major in the arts program, I hope to not only go on to obtain my counseling license in a master’s program but also use the variety of classes included in my bachelor’s degree to develop a well-rounded understanding of life through the lens of psychology. Many of the classes I have taken at CCU incorporate psychology into a broader perspective of history, politics, and other sciences through various general education and courses in different psychological fields, such as social psychology. Throughout my time at CCU, I have learned how psychology plays a part in our lives, not just in the realm of our individual minds but also in the fabric of our families and society. My hope for my counseling career is that I will be able to provide a larger context to my clients of how their struggles can stem from multiple sources so that I can help them achieve holistic improvement. In the meantime, practicing applying what I have learned in my own life and relationships has been challenging but rewarding, and I look forward to the continuation of my degree.
